Youth Ministry

Dear Friends,

On the behalf of Father James Harrison and the Youth Board it is my pleasure to announce that Ms. Sarah Ginther has accepted the position of Youth Minister at St. Marguerite d'Youville.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred in Theology from Southern Catholic College where she graduated magna cum laude in 2009. Sarah has been accepted to the online Master's in Theology program at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Sarah has five years experience in youth ministry at various parishes in Georgia and Alabama. Additionally, she has served at Camp Covecrest, a Life Teen facility in Tiger, Georgia. Sarah will soon begin additional education programs in youth ministry at Camp Covecrest and online with the Archdiocese.

We welcome Sarah's spirituality, enthusiasm and dedication to youth ministry to St. Marguerite. We will plan several opportunities to introduce Sarah to the youth, the parish and local youth ministers.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank Leann Malone and her Search Committee - Donna Hollis, Johnny Carson and Tom Scheer. They did an outstanding job in developing candidates for the position. Thanks to Terry Burke, Pam Kramer, Bill Malone and Andrew Scheer for the many hours of panel interviews. And, thanks to Father Harrison and Jane Walker for their final selection interviews.

We have reached a milestone, my friends!! Let us rejoice and thank the Lord for His guidance and blessings.

YOUTH MINISTRY SEED FUND. Thank you for donating to the Youth Ministry Seed Fund. Your donations allowed us to exceed our goal of $10,000 by approximately 20%!!! Your contribution has funded the beginning of an enthusiastic, spiritual program for our youth through young adults.

YOUTH BOARD. The first meeting of the Youth Board was held on January 20. The Board adopted a mission statement, ratified the job description, and essentially began the program. The Board also elected its first officers. Congratulations to Leo Payne, Chairperson; Bob Stevens, Vice Chairperson; Bill Malone, Treasurer; and Shannon Funston, Secretary.

NEXT BOARD MEETING. The next meeting of the Youth Board will be held on February 24 at 7:30 PM in the Parish Hall.
